A Church That Cares

The Bible is very clear in presenting our Lord's purpose in coming to this earth. "Even as the Son of
man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many" (Matthew
20:28). Jesus' aim in coming to this earth was not selfish in nature. Rather, He came to seek the needs
of man (Luke 19:10), to heal the wounds of man (Matthew 9:10-13), and to be the answer to the
greatest problem of man (Romans 5:6-9). Interestingly, that is the exact mission seen in the lives and
actions of the earliest Christians. The early church devoted itself to the following the precedent and
authority of its Head, Jesus, by reaching out to the needs of mankind. It devoted a great deal of its work
to meeting the needs of the spiritually lost by teaching them the saving message of the Christ (Acts
5:41-42; 8:1-40; 11:19-21). Further, it ensured that the needs of its own members were met by regularly
assembling together, learning the will of God, and encouraging each other on a daily basis (Acts 2:42;
14:21-23; 20:7). Finally, the concern of the first century Christians for mankind was seen in their
concern for, and benevolence toward, the physically needy (Acts 4:31-37; 11:27-30).

When you visit the Warm Springs Road church of Christ, you will come in contact with a congregation
of New Testament Christians that is genuinely striving to follow that same caring mission. There are a
number of churches in existence today that have as an emphasis the entertainment, recreation, and
socialization of their members and the community. While we certainly enjoy the friendship and
fellowship that comes with being members of the "body" and "household" of God (I Corinthians
12:12-27; I Timothy 3:15), the aforementioned entertainment will never be the priority of this church.
As followers of Jesus Christ, our interest in your soul. Our goal is to meet the genuine needs of
individuals. Our mission is to help each other and everyone around us go to heaven. If you are looking
for a church that will simply meet the social or recreation needs of you and your family, that is not us.
If, however, you are looking for a congregation devoted to HIS authority (Colossians 3:17), SPIRITUAL
things (Colossians 3:1-2), and ETERNITY (II Corinthians 4:18), then please do come and see us!
